Ontario Nursing Strategy:
Preceptorship/Mentorship Initiative (pdf) August 2007
The purpose of this report is to describe the implementation of mentorship in four Ontario
health units and to report the findings of an evaluation examining the barriers and enhancers
to implementation and the sustainability of mentorship when external funding is completed.

Environmental Scan, Final Report – September 2006
The purpose of this environmental scan was to support the identification
and setting of priorities to guide the launch and development of the
National Collaborating Centre for Public Health Methodologies and Tools (NCC:
MT). It was conducted on behalf of the Ontario Public Health Research
Education and Development (PHRED) program.
Health And Homelessness: Health Needs Assessment And Recommendations For
Improving The Health Of Those Experiencing Homelessness In Hamilton -
April 2004 (pdf)
This project has collected data related to the health of over 300 people
experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of homelessness. Focus group
participants and Key Informant Interviews have largely supported that
information. Recommendations presented based on empirical evidence from
the people in Hamilton.

for undergraduate and graduate students and the need for partnerships
between academics and practitioners in building a sufficient and competent
public health work force.
Nursing Mentorship Resource Guide (pdf 2.31 MB)
Funded by The Nursing Secretariat, Ontario Ministry of Health and
Long-Term Care, ANDSOOHA and the PHRED Program partnered to develop a
Nursing Mentorship Resource Guide, a resource developed by nurses for
nurses. The easy to use 95 page guide is organized into four sections:
Organizational Considerations, Becoming a Mentor, Becoming a Mentee, and
Becoming a Mentorship Champion. Implementation tools, references and case
studies based on common public health situations are included to make the
theory more relevant and to illustrate the text. Lessons learned and
critical elements for a successful mentorship experience are highlighted.
