About PHRED
Mission Statement
The mission of the Public Health Research, Education & Development (PHRED) Program is to contribute to health promotion,
health protection and the prevention of health problems among the
residents of Ontario through five strategic directions:

Applied public health research and program evaluation in areas
critical to effective and efficient Public Health practice.

Public health knowledge synthesis, dissemination and diffusion.

Leadership in undergraduate, graduate and continuing professional
education of future public health professionals.

Continuing education for public health practitioners.
-
Supporting innovative public health program and policy development.
Mandate
The Public Health Research, Education and Development (PHRED) Program
is a program involving boards of health, health science programs of
Ontario universities and colleges and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term
Care which contributes to health promotion, health protection and the
prevention of health problems among residents of Ontario through:
- Conducting applied public health research in areas critical to effective and efficient public health practice.
- Leadership in undergraduate, graduate and post-professional education of future health and public health professionals.
- Continual improvement of the PHRED Program.
